class notes about editing (peer and self)

Peer or self edit I:

-check over spelling, grammar and punctuation
-see if it “looks right”
-words in right order
-sentence formation
-capital at the beginning (names and places), punctuation at end (or within)

subject – who/what sentence is about

what happens to subject or what it is doing

After exercise:

- read carefully, slowly, over again to make sure you understand everything
- read aloud (pronunciation) sounds different – easier to check mistakes
- read in head (focus)
- simple sentences vs. detail (complexity)
- variety (choice of words and how sentence is put together)
