We had a great first week together. I appreciate all of the students working with me this week to ensure the best possible learning environment for all.
We are still working on a few routines such as:
-coming in and leaving class in an efficient manner
-active listening (waiting for others to finish speaking before we start adding our ideas)
- being safe
Art
We have begun an Art project which is similar to sixstringnation.com
Students are asked to draw/create an object or image which they feel represents what Canada means to them. Within the artwork they pick/draw/create six objects/images and describe the reasons why it represents Canada to them.
I have posted the outline in our google classroom. (see today's post)
Rough plan due: Friday, March 31
Artwork due: April 4
Math: review rectangular and triangular prisms, surface area, volume, Know how to apply these structures in real life. Assessment Tuesday.
Language - some FNMI still overdue (two paragraphs)
Science - grade 5's experiments Monday

Wed March 22 - sixstringnation etc.
We had a recess revival assembly today. We spoke about 10-5-2-1-0. Remember?
We are practicing showing our computational work and thinking in Math.
6Math - continued surface area and volume of prisms
5Math - continued area of irregular shapes (remember to practice a wide variety of strategies.)
Language - some students completed and submitted their two paragraphs of reading response to me today. Others are late in submitting.
Social studies - FNMI project due Friday (Please submit on our google classroom site.)
Science (grade 5) joined the google classroom grade 5 site. Present experiments on Monday.
A self-checklist and marking rubric is available on the site.
Heritage Fair - pick your topic by Friday.
Art - We watched a short video on the sixstringnation.com (the guitar- Voyageur).
This is a warm-up to a digital art project we will begin Friday.
