Homework Monday, Sept. 20

Language - media/writing Responsibility bitstrips due Tuesday.
media/writing - Respect acrostic poem complete Tuesday/Wednesday.
reading - Terry Fox package (skim and scan) use sticky notes to write questions / thoughts you have

reading Biodiversity (grade 7) The Cell (grade 8) continue in class.

Math - finish symmetrical name
- continue with problem solving package. Grade 8 (finish Working Backwards/Draw a Picture).
We will start identifying patterns in multiplication and division Tuesday.


Dance-a-thon Friday afternoon $2 and non-perishable food item
Scholastic book sale continues all this week. Ask your homeroom teacher when you are scheduled for a visit.

Curriculum Night - This Thursday, meet in the senior gym at 6:30 p.m. Please tell your parents/guardians. The evening runs until 8 p.m.

Tues. Sept. 14

Grade 8s worked on their Avatars for Bitstrips.
We worked on Math pg 7 Q7-10.
Key Math diagnostic was unavailable today. We will continue testing tomorrow.

Welcome to the homework blog.
I made an entry last week as well. Can you find it?

I wanted to share the typing program and bitstrips web site.
Your first assignment for bitstrips will start at the end of the week. It revolves around this month's character trait of responsibility.

Simply: Create one bitstrip putting yourself into a comic to show what responsibility you have as a student.

Create a second bitstrip comic putting yourself (as one of the characters, you may create more). Show a responsibility that you have outside of school.

Due date: Sept. 21

homework for Oct. 8

Power Point presentation (Media photo angles) due tomorrow.
Some students had a late start and they will be given a slightly later deadline. You know who you are.


Math - complete one page of the measurement handout.
Key concepts:

1 cm = 10 mm 1 m = 100 cm = 1000 mm

trick: to x10 move the decimal one place to the right
to /10 move the decimal one place to the left

eg. 15.6 mm = 1.56 cm (decimal moves one place to the left)

Reading log (complete one entry please)

Writing: the water bottle persuasive paragraph page should be finished.

Reminder: no school Monday.

Homework for Sept. 28
