What is inferring? making judgments, drawing conclusions, reading between the lines
We are currently reading: Ambush: an anecdote about Tim O'Brien's experience in the Vietnam War (Anecdote - personal account, personal retelling)
The questions (found on page 6 of the reading) are due on Thursday.
1. What does this anecdote (including its photos) allow you to infer about the impact of war on the author?
2. How does your background knowledge, gained through movies or other media, help you to visualize the scenes and events described in this anecdote?
3. Do you agree with the father's decision to lie to his daughter about his war experiences? Why or why not?
Next is a sci-fi story. Finally we will practice making inferences on a few poems.
