Hi. We had an active day today. No school tomorrow. But there's work to do.
During Staff advisory, I read chapter two of our read aloud book, "Shattered" by Eric Walters.
Math class was active outside. We worked in small and larger groups manipulating elastics to practice a variety of geography terms.
Terms include: right, isosceles and scalene triangles.
We spoke about transformations such as: flips (reflections) and turns (rotations, both about a point on the figure and around a point "imaginary" line outside the figure. There are also translations (slides) that we need to know.
Homework for the LONG weekend.
Math - 7.1 pg 252-254 1-10
7.2 pg259 6-9
review page pg 260 1-3. I gave students both isometric and square dot paper. They can also use text book squares in place of square dot paper.
All students should try every question. If there is something he/she doesn't understand he/she should write down the question in his/her notebook.
L.A./Geography
Identify all photos/graphics needed.
Travel brochure: - Itineray - (3-7 days) due Monday.
see an example of a detailed itenerary from http://www.gapadventures.com/tour/PID
note: include: physical and cultural ratings
also - paragraph (1) due Monday
explain how people who live in your main city adapt to their surroundings.
How does the environment (climate, precipitation) affect the way they live?
as of Monday 4 of 8 paragraphs should be written
all graphics should be found and/or identified
During History/Geography class the majority of the class completed their Reading Maps assignment with clarity and accuracy. The inferences and conclusions that students came up with was quite impressive and a skill they can use for their brochures and in their future daily lives.
The last part of the period we put in at least 15 minutes for the Clean-up or Tidy up Toronto (tomorrow at 2 p.m.). Most people will be doing 20 minutes so they can clean up their area for at least 5 minutes more tomorrow. :D
Happy Earth Day !
Every day and officially Sunday, April 22nd!
