Apologies for such a late post. I had a meeting/responsibilities immediately after school and just got home now.
Today was a good day in core class. A majority of the students tried out my SLR camera that I brought to school. I explained the idea of shutter speed (how long the shutter stays open) and f-stop (how big the aperture of the lens is). Both these setting affect how much light arrives on the camera sensor.
The more light, the faster the shutter speed can be. With fast shutter speed usually the aperture can be larger. If you are taking an action shot, the shutter speed is fast eg. 1/250 to take a snapshot and "freeze" action. If the shutter speed is slower, a blur effect will be seen etc.
Two groups just practiced taking shots, adjusting the aperture and using the automatic focus settings.
When students become experts, we will design a class calender.
Math - we completed the data management test
- some students did not take the opportunity to review the terms (as we started the test Monday and completed it next day)
- we also reviewed how to calculate area and perimeter of a rectangle and triangle (already worked on in December)
Homework again is to complete 6.1 and 6.2
L.A. - no L.A. scheduled today
History/Geography - we discussed the ideas of the causes of the American Revolution (American Revolutionary War of Independance) taking the perspectives of the Loyalists in Quebec (and Nova Scotia) vs. the 13 Colonies (Rebels)
- we read pages 129, 130 and 131 together
continue finishing the reading was the homework
