Welcome to Math in Action 7B!

It's the first week of our Mathemagical exploration.
The purpose of our Math in Action Summer school has three parts:
- to increase your mathematical knowledge, skills and understanding
- to increase your ability to think, communicate and apply mathematics
- to foster an attitude that is conducive to learning mathematics

During Week 1, we are getting to understand the way we learn and communiate Mathematics best.
I will post each week's Learning Goals and Success Criteria. (Success Criteria is a great way for you to assess yourself, check what you should know for grade 7 in each area and see how you are doing.)
I will also outline each week's homework on this site.

Learning Goals:
This week we are learning to...
- understand situations by "mathematizing" them using numbers, operations, variable, expressions, equations, manipulative models, math models (eg. number lines, graphs, charts), and patterns
- "make sense" of mathematics by using English explanations, either spoken or in writing.
Success Criteria: We will know we are successful when we are able to...
- represent a math activity or problem using a variety of math expressions
- explain what a math expression or math model respresents and why it works using full English sentences
