Homework for Halloween, Math games and free rice

Today was Halloween at our school. I hope you have a safe and happy weekend. Remember that the weather is going to be coooooold!

Period 3 computer lab booked    Halloween fun read here too.

Pick one of the sites and practice math computation skills

http://www.coolmath4kids.com/ or http://www.mathplayground.com/games.html

You may also go to: http://www.freerice.com/ and try vocabulary or geography -- a wide variety of subjects and give rice to the United Nationals Food program. Support the U.N.'s food programme here:http://www.freerice.com/subjects.php?t=478307146746

For the weekend all students should work on the Halloween Fun reading. It has vocabulary, spelling, and math skills as well.

To download a copy (in case you forgot it) click here: Halloween Fun reading.

For Math -- remember percent (or per cent) means out of 100.
15% is 15/100 or 0.15 (in calculator 15 ÷ 100)

15% of 123 is 0.15 x 123 = 18.45 or 18

1. If you can't figure out the math, please underlying parts of the word question where you think you understand the math computation that you need to do? add subtract multiply divide percentage total loss etc.

2. Remember a math word problem gives you certain words (clues to what you have to do).

3. Draw a picture, make a chart and make sure your answer makes sense.
Eg. 15% of something has to be smaller than the original number (not bigger). Then you may be on the right track. :D
