Have a nice long weekend!
Read!
Practice typing...cursive? (Not really homework but worth some time since you have Monday off.)
Math? grade 7 and 8 at same starting point. We will diverge according to grade level expectations until then. You must try to learn and remember the following big ideas.
Where do you see the following mathematical concepts in our everyday community?
(length - metre, capacity / liquid volume - litre, mass - grams),
Why? real life applications. Which unit makes sense for what object? Use in architecture, home improvement, real life objects etc.
move length to area..build to volume..surface area of something etc?
circles, angles, descriptions...
Math concepts: also refer / read over pg136 / 137 in agenda.
Metric units, conversion of units using prefixes
King Henry Didn't Usually Drink Chocolate Milk
length km hm dam m dm cm mm
mass kg hg dag g dg cg mg
capacity kL hL daL L dL cL mL
eg. km to m move three spots to the right, so decimal moves three right
units of measure (length - metre, capacity / liquid volume - litre, mass - grams), two-dimensional shapes and how to describe them using parallel / perpendicular, angle size, side lengths, similar and /or congruent (vocabulary).
Please review past posts to make sure all the language / media / writing based activities are complete.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving! Grade 7s enjoy you three-day trip! :D
