What can you do?
Some of the things that can be undertaken to mark International Day of Literacy include the following:
- Sponsor a child in a reading program.
- Give a book as a gift.
- Volunteer to read to patients in a hospital or nursing home.
- Read a book aloud to a child.
- Teach someone to read.
- Donate books to a women’s shelter.
- Visit your local library.
