What is YOUR favourite setting?A setting can be one of the elements of a story. Eg. one of the characteristics of a narrative (another name for story).Setting refers to the time and place (location) in which a story occurs.A setting of a story, poem, or play can be anchored to a specific time and place, such as on the Yukon Gold Rush in the 1800s, or it can be fictitious, such as a faraway kingdom or in outer space. Real or not, characters interact within the setting to show and tell a story.

- paragraph one (the climate and landscape of your city. Where is your city located in the world and its relative location to other major cities. Eg. use directions and distances - you may choose to replace an already known city with your own to help you.)
- paragraph two (describe some of the major features that you feel make your city special. Remember a city has at least four main communities: residential, business, parks and recreation and industrial).
- paragraph three (explain why your city works so well for your citizens. Use the reasons why a city is a success.
Think about: How is the layout of your city affected by the geography of the region?

What is the major industry or industries of your city?
How does your city serve the needs of its citizens?
Why would someone want to move to your city to live there?
What advantages does your city have over other cities?
