Homework for the weekend Thursday, Sept. 25

Happy black and red day.

I'm sure all students enjoyed participating in Thursday morning's Terry Fox run.
The fundraising Dance-a-thon will be a great new experience for me.

Homework for the long weekend is as follows:

Math - division sheets (show your work)
remember the steps:
Dracula (division)
Must (multiply)
Suck (subtract)
Blood (bring down)

Students who DO not have the single digit multiplication facts learned must remember the patterns as we are doing a quiz next Friday to test your basic skills.

Language Arts - writing "Hello my name is...." first entry for the blog (rough copy) due Monday
Logo rough copy for the "Canadian Student Life" blog is to be completed in your journal as well.
Both good copies will be worked on during class next week including the editing process before publication.

Media - appropriate lyrics and accompanying video (written using proper citation) due Monday.
ONLINE VIDEO CLIPS Structure:

Author or originator. Description or title of video clip. [Online video clip] Date of document or download (day, month, year). URL http://address/filename.

remember to write answers to each question in your journal:

Media assignment II
Find a set of appropriate lyrics of a song that you enjoy.
Question 1:
Write a paragraph telling me why you like the song.
(Explain if it's the imagery formed by words, the beat, other reasons you enjoy the song.)

Question 2:
Find an appropriate video that goes with the lyrics to the song.
How does the video enhance (add to) your interpretation of the song's lyrics?

Question 3:
Find (or create) an appropriate video (from another source) that you could play to accompany the song and change the overall feel or meaning of the lyrics.
Explain why you chose the new video and HOW it changes the feeling / meaning of the song to you.

Assigned: Monday, Sept. 22
Due: Monday, Sept. 29

I am still waiting to see many students' Media assignment 1:
Three web site reviews (Water Conservation or Canadian Confederation) and a persuasive paragraph - Which site did you like best and why?
