Notes on Aboriginal - Food
Eg. of a complete paragraph topic sentence - three details and concluding sentences written together on the board.
1. The main idea of the story, "Chances are it's Aboriginal" is talking about different foods around the country. In the Plains you could hunt food like buffalo. Quebec City added maple syrup to our cupboards. I learned that we can eat fiddleheads - young ferns. Most of the food we eat originally came from the Aboriginal people's diet.
Here is our list that we took up:
Place in Canada - Aboriginal Food
Quebec - maple syrup
Prairies - buffalo
B.C. (Pacific coast) - fish (salmon, trout, arctic char, crabs, seafood, clams)
Atlantic coast - fish (cod), fiddleheads, trukey, potatoes
Ontario - blueberries, strawberries, wild rice, cranberries,
Manitoba - wild rice, buffalo
Reading - The Fight for Fur and questions due Friday.
