Big idea

History of slavery in Canada’s part of the New World

- habitants of New France needed / wanted help for domestic duties (eg. Sewing, cooking etc.) and military (protect the Fortress of Louisbourg)
- first used First Nations, but native people knew environment, could run away and hide and were said to "fight back", decided to import African slaves
