We had a productive day...students explored www.worldmapper.org to see how maps can be made based on another criteria other than land area.
In math we spoke about THE DESIGN PROCESS and began discussing THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD (and the similarities and differences).
In our final language arts period we read about different terms and definitions in POETRY.
Students are to complete a POETRY PICTURE DICTIONARY using 10 terms in their package (see orange duotang).
Terms include:
adjectives
stanza
metaphor
personification
imagery
alliteration
onomatopoeia
Haiku poem
Limerick poem
Concrete poem
Narrative poem
Collage poem
Couplet poem
Lyric poem
Free verse
Theme poem
(each student has the definitions and must choose 10 words to illustrate). We will be examining different forms for the next two weeks.

Patterns are key for the poetry and scientific method. Poetry has words arranged in a metric (rhythmic) pattern...eg. Haiku - three lines with 5 syllables, 7 syllables and 5 syllables....and design as well as Experimentation seeks to look for patterns in results to explain a HYPOTHESIS (scientific best guess).
Math homework tonight is pg371-372 Q 1-8
